Is Persuasion A Bad Word?
Is Persuasion a bad word? Is it one of those things that is unethical?
Well, it actually depends on one single thing – Intent.
Your intent will determine if it’s unethical or not. If your intention is to swindle people out of their money and give nothing or little in return, then YES, it’s very unethical.
If, on the other hand, if your intention is to get your product or service in the hands of those people who most need it and it will help them greatly, then NO, it’s most definitely not unethical. In fact, it is your Duty to influence people to want to buy your product or service so that their life is better off because of it.
It’s true that people hate to be sold to. But they do love to buy.
Influence allows you to help those people who are undecided to make that decision, get off the fence and to buy, thus helping themselves, possibly their business, and usually those people around them.
So in fact, as a business owner, it is your duty to influence people buy your product. It is your duty to market it successfully so that they maximum amount of people hear your message and want to use your product or service to better their lives, in whatever way that is.

I really like this little article sir. It kinda puts things in perspective for me, seeing as how I’m a bit afraid to propose a sale. I guess I just feel like people buy when they buy. But I know that isn’t really true. The great thing about the internet is that you can pitch em’ and never really have to feel that face to face feeling of “Oh my God he thinks I just want his money.!!!”
Hi Paul,
Thanks for your comment.
Glad you liked the article. Many people are afraid to ask for the sale, even though their business life depends on it.
As long as you provide lots of value with your products, people will never have a problem with you asking for money for them. If it seems you are giving them a $100 bill for just $20, then they’ll always be happy.
Be Bold and be rewarded for the value you create.
